Leadership Program of Tomorrow-Mentoring
Offer access to experienced funeral professionals
Help identify and maintain appropriate expectations and goals as the funeral service provider
Encourage new members and active participation in the parent organization, the N.F.D. & M.A., Inc. by identifying and encouraging leadership that support sound principles and beliefs with a strong commitment to the profession
Establish an outreach and support program for students entering the funeral service profession through our "Mentors and Gatekeepers" program and our Mentor-Mentee Match program
To encourage female professionals to become active in community education through area churches as well as social organizations, while building a stronger bond with other practitioners, assisting and sharing personal knowledge about resources and self support groups that assist in our community service programs.
Encouraging members to share information, and to share experiences that can serve to avoid certain pitfalls of the business. In addition, establish a conduct operation that will set future standards of professionalism.
To identify outside resources, as well as resources inside of the N.F.D & M.A., that will foster professional growth and assistance that will enable females to stay informed of the ever changing profession.
Training and Development
To encourage certification in the Academy of Professional Funeral Service and to seek certification with the CFSP for all members of the100 Black Women of Funeral Service
To provide guest lecturers and continuing education credits to help expand members horizons and professional growth
To inform and foster professional awareness of compliance requirements that help to avoid state violations and costly incontinences (F.T.C., OSHA, State Regulatory Boards)
To help maintain appropriate and realistic expectations as a funeral service provider and to seek ways to identify and improve stress in the workplace
Scholarships and Service Awards
To identify Outstanding Entrepreneurs in the Funeral Industry who have made their mark in their Communities, State, District and National affiliations and providing annual awards to mark success
To identify and mentor qualified students attending accredited Mortuary Science Institutions and awarding annual scholarships and grants-in-aid to assist the rising cost of education and ensuring the students to complete their education and move to the next level
Awards are as follows: Woman of the Year, Traditional Funeral Home of the Year, Non-Traditional Funeral Home of the Year, Minority Business-related Entrepreneur of the Year, President's Award, Funeral Service Visionary Award
Pyramid of Success Award
Presented to outstanding Professional for their contributions to the Profession, Community, Civic, State and National Affiliations.
A listing of outstanding members and resource persons to serve as speakers or presenters, available to local and state organizers covering different areas of expertise related to funeral service practice, grief and pre-need. Give us a date, topic, and location and we will arrange the speaker for your group/affair. We have a mountain of talent within hands reach.
